Let it Snow!

I recall joking with my husband that I could really use a weekend to rest after returning from the whirlwind of excitment in Colorado.  Little did I know that my joking would become a reality.  For the past two days we’ve had the pleasure of hearing the sweetest sound known to teachers…the ring of the telephone in the wee hours of the morning!

That’s right!  We’ve had two snow days in a row!  Granted, they’re actually more like crappy-back-roads and really-windy-and-icy days, but you get the point.  We’ve done lots of resting, cuddling, and tonight we even got a little “crafty” in the kitchen and whipped up a batch of pasties to have for dinner on Friday night when my folks come over.

We also got to spend some down time with Grandma E. as she came over last night just in case we needed a babysitter today.  And she’ll be back again to watch C. on Friday too – what would we do without her?!

Off to grab some dinner and get Little Man bathed and in bed.

Happily Ever After

What a beautiful evening of celebration, love and laughter.  There’s so much to say about the fairytale wedding…so many pictures to share.  But for now, it is simply a wish of congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Ewing.

There’s magic in the air and it’s with great excitement that we welcome the adventure that this new phase in your life is about to reveal!  What an amazing experience this has been…and will continue to be.

Much love to the newlyweds!

Tooth-worthy news

After a few restless nights, slight fevers, and some diaper rash, we’ve got yet another “toofer” coming through!  I know my posts have been sporadic lately, but I’ve found myself completely enthralled with playing, snuggling and otherwise showering love onto my little man.

This second front tooth is really going to make him look older.  Already, his face seems to be changing and the way he’s really moving around now (up, down, climbing, crawling and other general “mov-iness”) it reminds me that his “babydom” is quickly coming to an end.

Just last night, he was snuggled on my lap while we ate dinner, and he was very interested in trying food of mama’s plate.  Unfortunately the only thing I had to offer was plain bread because he couldn’t have the other food which was highly seasoned and milk-based.  I just know it’s going to be the blink of an eye and he’ll be busily scarfing down “big people food” with the best of ’em.

No more nursing

I just realized that I never reported a rather significant event in the life of my little man…and well, in my life too.  About three weeks ago, after a few weeks of rather frustrating feedings which we gradually becoming fewer and farther between, we made the switch to the bottle.  I contemplated pumping again, after all I dragged that blasted thing all over Manhattan and Chicago, it seemed too easy to stop now.  But to be honest, I think I was ready to reclaim my body for a while.

The fact that C. transitioned seamlessly made it that much easier.  In fact, the process of accepting the change myself was a little more time-consuming than anything Calder seemed to experience.  I have noticed him being a little clingy lately, but that’s a “side effect” I certainly don’t mind.

I’m slightly disappointed that I didn’t make it the full year, like I’d hoped, but I’m quickly learning that things don’t always pan out the way I plan.  I suppose the fact that C. now has three pearly whites and he practiced using them on me (ouch!) didn’t help matters any.
