Wordless Wednesday ~ Meeting

Annual Meeting 2

Following my first presentation.  I spent several conference calls and Google doc hours with these gals!

Annual Meeting 1

At the Special Focus Networks social – yummy appetizers that made me feel like a big important person!

Annual Meeting 3

Dinner at “The Original Mexican Restaurant” – super tasty!  Even Seneca’s mouth was watering!!

Sculpture

How could I not take a picture of a Calder?! 🙂

Alamo

The Alamo – pretty cool albeit small in comparison to the buildings around it.

Alamo 3

The wall around the Alamo.  Now that I see this shot, it would’ve been way cool had I focused on the sign instead of the window.

Alamo 2

A cool little walkway next to the Alamo.

Me

Since I never have any pictures taken of myself – I thought, why not?!

Alamo 4

Another cool little building near the Alamo.

Annual Meeting 4

This was an outdoor amphiteather-type place.  It was pretty cool because they had it set up to really project the speaker’s voice using the natural acoustics and a few well-placed shield-like things.

Though not altogether wordless, I thought today was as good a time as any to share some of the fun from my trip!

What a loser!

I know, this sounds bad.  But in fact this is my way of saying that my half-pound loss this week was decent considering I was in San Antonio for a conference from Wednesday through Saturday and did my fair share of indulging.  Granted, I also ran every day which is pretty good.  Race day is just two days away and I know that it’s going to be cold and challenging, but I also am really starting to like the way I feel after putting in a good workout.

We’ve also made a startling discovery.  Remember my confession a while back…well, even Garth said that last night’s pizza didn’t really hit the spot as it had been.  I said the same thing having had just one piece (and a few pieces of cheese bread).  So I think I might be switching up my post weigh-in reward just a bit.  Perhaps this health-kick is really working!

And finally – The Biggest Loser.  Did anyone really think that Vicky wouldn’t vote Amy out?  She is so incredibly conniving.  Not that I don’t wish her well with her weight loss and health, but seriously, I will be terribly disappointed if she wins it all.  After Allie last season and even Michelle and Renee this season, there are good people out there who seem to deserve the title more.

I suppose that’s enough rambling for now!

My first glimpse

I remember reading about this somewhere.  I thought it was such a cool idea.  It was one of those things I thought about doing, but then got busy somewhere along the time between thinking and acting.  This past weekend I saw it in real life.  It got me thinking again, about sending notes of happiness, encouragement, and hope into the world.

Seeing this made me smile.

Color ~ Best Shot Monday

We made it home safe and sound…with most of our belongings.  I’m reserving that story for later this week.  You know, when you can look back and laugh because it all worked out.  Perhaps it will tie into what I’m thankful for this week too.

I’m also glad to be back in the land of free Internet!  Turns out we weren’t charged for our connection, but I did learn that there was even a “better” fee at the conference center – $5.95 every 15 minutes!  Seriously!  What’s crazier is the fact that meandering through downtown Saturday we found at least 5-10 quaint little spots where we could connect for free.

I love the color I got to soak up while on this trip.  Here’s a shot of the sparkly reflections from the lighted riverwalk – I guess we were just a week early for the amazing every-tree-is-lit shindig.  It was gorgeous nonetheless!

Riverwalk

I remember reading this article a few weeks ago, hoping I’d get a chance to capture a great image on my upcoming trip to Texas.  Thankfully, I was traveling with some super great gals who made managing my 3-month-old and all her paraphernalia so much easier.  They even indulged me a few moments here and there to snap a quick shot or two.

Here are two from our trip to San Antonio.  Aren’t the colors great?  I love the wispy clouds here too.

Horizon 2

While this one is a little plainer (is that a word?) it speaks to me.  So this is my best shot for this week.

Horizon 1

For more best shots this week, head on over to Tracey’s.

Nothin’ but blue skies

I know I’ve been a little MIA lately, so I wanted to send a quick hello from The Lone Star State!  That’s right, Little Miss Seneca and I have been here in lovely San Antonio since late Wednesday evening.  We left a frigid 30-degree dreary Michigan day (where ironically we had to board the plane right on the tarmac instead of using a jetway) and landed in an almost balmy 60-degree Texas.

Seneca was an amazing traveler – she has flashed her stunning smile to countless people so far on our journey.  She’s attended a few writing project sessions and will enjoy some time on the river walk tomorrow evening.

My first presentation today went quite well and we’re looking forward to a great round table discussion tomorrow as well.  I’m hoping to capture a few decent shots of this cool city – including the Calder sculpture we pass on the way to the meeting location.

As for more posts, sadly, they will have to be saved until because it costs ten bucks per day, per COMPUTER (that’s right, not even free room wireless) to have access.  What kind of racket is this becoming?

I’m going to hit the sack for tonight in hopes of getting a few hours of quality sleep before putting in another long, productive and exciting day of conferencing again tomorrow!

Peace, y’all!
