Family Fun – Best Shot Monday

What a perfect end to a great weekend…that’s right another early morning phone call, though my darling husband thought it would be hilarious not to tell me for about 15 minutes after I continued getting ready post-shower.  It worked out very well as Garth’s family had stayed last night after coming to watch C.’s baby dedication.  We indulged in a great breakfast, a few more snuggles from Little Man and then they were on their way northward.

Here are a couple of my favorite pics from the family fun yesterday…

Momma Love

As I celebrate my first Valentine’s Day as a mom (yes I know that I was already a mother last year, but there’s something different…) I’m blessed with a laughing, giggling, “da-da” saying reminder of the man who stole my heart!

I consider myself among the luckiest of women, to have found a husband who daily makes me feel like I deserve the best life has to offer.  He is such a faithful partner in both the big and small tasks and I would be completely lost without him.

And just when I didn’t think I could love anymore…enter my Little Man!  Those butterflies that started with surprise visits, Tuesday night dates, and fabulous kisses are back again, in a slightly new form.  Now, the giddy feeling I get in the pit of my belly, is combined with a feeling of pride, excitement, apprehension and utter amazement at the way he is changing each and every day.

I’m overcome with joy and filled to the brim with love.  To my beautiful boys…I love you and Happy Valentine’s Day.

5:24

That’s the magic number.  At least it has been for two Tuesdays in a row.  Granted on Wednesday it was 5:27 and Friday, right around 5:43.  Any way you look at it, it means we’ve had yet another snow rain freezing fog we’re-really-not-sure-but-we’ll-take-it day.

And by the looks of the forecast (winter storm warning with 6-9 inches of accumulation possible on top of the 3 hours of wintry mix that’s expected to pelt the area first) we could be in store for yet another day tomorrow.  No, I’m not bragging or anything like that.  In fact, I’m a little shocked and unsure as we’ve never had so many days jam-packed into one little timeframe before.

Luckily, today was both relaxing and productive.  We’re about to send little guy to bed, at which point I hope to finish grading some papers I’ve had for awhile now, which means tomorrow we’ll be able to attack the house and make it spotless.  Ahem, that is, if we have another unexpected day off.  In the event that we do return to work (which wouldn’t be a bad thing) we’ll strive for cleanliness yet another day.

To wrap things up, I couldn’t help but share a couple pics that were melt-my-heart adorable today.

Getting Prepared

I’ve heard it before and I know I’ll hear it again, how teachers have the easiest job, we get so much time off and the list goes on.  Granted, last week, was pretty nice, but it was also atypical.  I realize I didn’t report that we did receive the phone call again Friday morning, making it our third day off last week!  For us, we actually went in only on Thursday since we’d taken Monday off since we’d be coming back from Colorado so late Sunday night.

But to be honest, sometimes these long-ish breaks bring on a whole different set of problems!  For one, my plan for tomorrow is to re-read the first two chapters of The Giver with my first hour class, since they had a hard time recalling any of the events they’d read about on Thursday.  Then, we’ll work on re-establishing the rules and rapport of the classroom.  Not to mention that now, we have a full week staring us in the face and it could be a little tough to get through!

What’s more, G. and I are presenting our first technology workshop for the LMWP Leadership Team on Saturday, which gives us a six-day week.  I’m not saying this to get any pity, just trying to convince myself that I’ll have what it takes to muster through!

On a positive note, we heard from Luke and Ann tonight and they are successfully back from their honeymoon and en route to OKC where I assume the former will immediately pack and head to Texas for his class which commences early tomorrow morning!  Whew!  These jet-setters have me exhausted!  I can’t wait to hear about their trip and see their pictures – which I’m sure I’ll try to share too!

Lastly, we’re happy to report that C. is officially a “peek-a-boo”-er.  I know we’ve been playing it with him for months now, but last night, after his dinner and while we were eating ours, he started playing it right back.  He’s so stinkin’ adorable when his chubby little hands fumble their way to the general vicinity of his eyes and waits for us to play along.  He’s also dangerously close to being ultra-mobile (a.k.a. walking).  If he could stop laughing uncontrollably when he starts taking steps (with assistance) from G. or I, he might actually acquire a bit of balance!

I suppose that’s all for now…happy Superbowl watching!

Let it Snow!

I recall joking with my husband that I could really use a weekend to rest after returning from the whirlwind of excitment in Colorado.  Little did I know that my joking would become a reality.  For the past two days we’ve had the pleasure of hearing the sweetest sound known to teachers…the ring of the telephone in the wee hours of the morning!

That’s right!  We’ve had two snow days in a row!  Granted, they’re actually more like crappy-back-roads and really-windy-and-icy days, but you get the point.  We’ve done lots of resting, cuddling, and tonight we even got a little “crafty” in the kitchen and whipped up a batch of pasties to have for dinner on Friday night when my folks come over.

We also got to spend some down time with Grandma E. as she came over last night just in case we needed a babysitter today.  And she’ll be back again to watch C. on Friday too – what would we do without her?!

Off to grab some dinner and get Little Man bathed and in bed.
