…and to all a good night

Cookies baked and frosted, gifts wrapped, house cleaned, family sleeping…I’m about to join my boys as I anxiously await the first of a lifetime of Christmas mornings.  It’s strange because I feel like so much has happened since the last bell of the school day on Friday…well, I guess that’s because a lot has happened.  Yet, it’s all been that good kind of busy and bustle.

Today we tidied up the house and enjoyed an early Christmas Eve service at a sister church in Belding, then came home for some delicious Shrimp Fettucini.  It was a terrific day, a cozy evening and I can hardly wait to get several photos posted tomorrow!

And as I prepare to rest my head, I’m so thankful for the precious child born in a manger, who loved me and my family with a love far deeper than even I can imagine or could love them myself.  Thank you, Father!

At long last

Whew!  I must say I am so happy to be on Christmas break!  It’s been a long couple of weeks around my classroom, not to mention trying to do the fun stuff for the holidays too!  About a month ago my students began writing either a children’s story or a collection of poems to produce their very own book through StudenTales.  Somehow, time slipped away from both my students and me because the printing process took much longer than expected.

Thankfully though, all completed packets have been collected, checked (well, not graded you know – that’s a pleasure I get to save for another day week month!) and ready for shipment tomorrow!  It’s such a relief!

After a quick stop by the store, we came home to relax and have some down-time.  I played with Calder for a bit, putzed around online and then watched Spiderman 3 once my guys were asleep.  I realize now that I need to get my address labels printed (I know, my cards are going to arrive after Christmas…but at this point that’s acceptable!) so I can get things sent out tomorrow!

Have I said it feels great to be on break?  As a student I always looked forward to our school vacations, but I never really thought about whether or not my teachers enjoyed them too.  Now, I realize that the breaks are not only enjoyable, but downright necessary!  I have a book I bought in September that I’m going to read for nothing other than sheer pleasure.  I want to build a snowman and/or go sledding and yes, I do have a day in my classroom scheduled for one day of our rather short break.

I suppose, I’d be get moving because I’m starting to feel a little heavy-lidded.  Here’s hoping I get to post a lot over the next couple of weeks!

Attitude adjustment

So I hoped for a happier post later tonight and I’m ready to deliver.  Once I got over my self-pity jag about having to go to school for the game, it actually turned out to be a pretty good (and productive) afternoon.  I was able to get several grades entered, catch up on some e-mail, and the second game was a real nail-biter to boot!

I had 4 girls there tonight and it went quite well.  We made small steps toward progress.  I’ll admit we really aren’t great, but they work hard and I try to encourage an atmosphere of fun.  It’s going to be quite a challenge to get in competition shape in two weeks when we return from break.  Especially considering that we are still working to perfect Round 1 and haven’t begun working on Round 2!!

Anyway, I’m unplugging for the night and hope to keep blogging a little more regularly.  There’s sure to be lots of Christmas joy to share!!

First Haircut

I promise, this will be the last post for a while.  I’ve got to get showered and ready so we can head out very soon.  I love the one where he’s scrunching up his shoulders, not sure of what’s about to happen.  To see the “after” check out the Home page of my blog.  I swear it makes him look older!
