It all adds up

7 years since that first blind date in April.

1 large scallop – your first birthday appetizer

5 different residences we’ve had throughout the entire time we’ve had between us.

2 very strong martinis.

5 years of marriage – and you’re still my best friend, biggest cheerleading, and sworn Uno enemy!

2 beautiful children.

3 flights we’ve taken together.

1 very long road trip to and from FL for our delayed honeymoon.

4 years spent teaching – a career I may not have found if not for you.

1 step at a time – the way I plan to live each day of the rest of my life with you.

31 – The number of reasons I have to celebrate and thank God for bringing us together…until next year…and the next year…

I’m so thankful to share this journey through life with the most amazing man I know.  I love you more each day!  Happy Birthday, Babe!

Long-distance Love

These birthday wishes are sent to the sunny Dominican Republic!  While the warm temps are certainly something we would enjoy sharing, I think I speak for my family when I say sharing snuggles and hugs with you and your beautiful family would be far better!

Gretchen, we hope you are enjoying your time off and enjoying every moment.  We anxiously await your next visit stateside.  Here’s to a wonderful birthday and a year of adventure ahead!

Happy Birthday, Little Brother

As luck would have it, my baby brother is in Ohio this week – a much more reasonable drive than his permanent residence in Oklahoma.  Yet, his full schedule and early flight made a visit impossible.  Looks like we’ll have to stay connected through texts, calls and web cam chats until Thanksgiving!

Luke

Since I don’t have any recent pics of you, I swiped this one from your Facebook albums.  About 10 years ago, I remember you saying that you weren’t going to the airport again unless it was you getting on a plane to go somewhere.  If only you’d known the truth in those words.

You’ve come a long way from being hauled into my first grade class for show-and-tell 24 years ago!  I cannot begin to express how proud I am of you.  I know you have done, and will continue to do amazing things.  God has a mighty plan for you – and I count myself lucky to witness your journey.

Have a wonderful birthday and blessed year ahead!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Mom C

It seems perfectly fitting that your birthday falls right at the beginning of the school year.  Your years spent as a teacher, elementary principal, and now school board member have taught you so much, and as I’m in the early stages of my teaching career, I love “talking shop” with you.

Yet, your teaching didn’t begin or end in the classroom.  Each day I spend with your son, I’m amazed by his kindness, thoughtfulness, attention to detail and his integrity to name a few of his exceptional qualities.  As part of your family, I’ve come to know that these are traits that are highly valued and that you (and Dad) have instilled in him over the years.

I’m so thankful to have been blessed to become part of such an amazing family, and to be able to call such a fabulous woman “Mom.”  I look forward to seeing you tomorrow as you come to visit!  I wish you a very happy birthday and a terrific year ahead!

Happy Birthday!

I can hardly believe it was an entire year ago that I was anxiously awaiting the news that you’d said yes to Luke’s proposal.  I still remember the 3 separate texts I received from him telling us how everything went.  And then, of course, the phone call where both of you could barely catch your breath and your smiles could be heard even across the miles between us.

I look forward to years of memories to come and hope that despite the distance, we continue to grow closer as friends, as sisters!

Happy Birthday, Ann!  Here’s to a terrific year!Ann copy
