Feelin’ the blues ~ BSM

I know I’m not the only one who says “we’ll have to get together sometime” to friends or family members, only to find days, weeks, months pass by without actually following through.  So, I was beyond delighted to actually make plans to meet with my cousin a couple of weeks ago.  We met at my Mom’s house which is about the half-way point for us.  We spent the afternoon talking and catching up on how life as mom’s changed us in ways more profound than either of us could have imagined.

She, is a stay-at-home mother of four adorable children.  Two boys and two girls.  The boys were in school for the day, so it was just time with the girls.  I can only hope that Seneca, Cieara and Madisyn are able to grow up cherishing their relationship with one another as much as we did!

I think this little lady was pretty curious about the big camera in her face!!!

Cieara

And Miss Madi is quite comfortable posing for a picture!  Though they’re a bit overexposed, I still couldn’t resist the way her eyes just sparkle!

Madisyn

Doesn’t she look so much older than her 2.5 years?

Madisyn

And this, is my best shot – the pure goofiness of it cracks me up every time!

BSM ~ Chicken Phone

So we survived our first week of Dad being back to work.  Honestly, it went far better than I anticipated, except that they were extremely l-o-n-g days!  It didn’t help that Garth had late practice last week, so he wasn’t home until after 7 each night.

With more time at home, and less time spent engaged in conversation with other adults, I’m finding that I have just as many (if not more) pictures I have taken, but far less (read: zip, zero, zilch) time to actually process and post them.

Here’s a series from a couple weeks ago that makes me laugh every time!  For months now, Calder has used anything and everything as a phone – shoes, tub toys, plastic utensils…and yes…food!  In fact, food has become one of his all-time favorite mediums for this fascination.  We’ve had pancake phones, spaghetti phones…you name it!

The hilarious part is that he always starts his “conversations” on his “phones” with some version of “ummm,” followed by gibberish I wouldn’t begin to know how to type!

Here he is enjoying lunch as usual…

When he suddenly feels the need to employ the use of his “phone”…

Chicken Phone 2

Oops, it’s slipping…

Chicken Phone 1

This one, is definitely my best shot for today.  Not necessarily because it’s a great image, but because of the adorable smirk on his face.  Apparently his “chicken phone” is the best one yet…because it looks to be bluetooth capable!

Chicken Phone 4

While I can attest to the fact that it is indeed chicken in his ear, when I showed my cousin Jessie these pictures, she thought it looked like cauliflower.  Now that would have been too classic – “cauliflower ear.”

Best Shot Monday ~ Water Works

A few weeks ago a ventured away from being a snap-happy mom and explored some of my natural surroundings.  Then, of course, I became a new mom and, well, you can guess what happened.  Now I have two equally gorgeous and more-often-than-not willing models.

Then, I remembered all the wedding pictures I shot mere days before Seneca’s arrival.  Today, between Mom and Dad’s visit, video chatting with Luke and Ann, and resting a bit before friends from church brought by dinner, I decided to take a few photos on a PS test drive.

Without a doubt, this is my absolute best shot today.  I must say I feel there’s going to be quite a learning curve for me as I fumble my way through learning the system.  But if I keep getting results that make me smile as big as this one did, it’s worth it!  Seriously, my mind reels at the child photography possibilities….

Best Shot Monday ~ Sweet and Saucy

A week ago today, we became a family of four.  I became the mother of a daughter.  Calder became a big brother.  In this past week there have been a flood of emotions splashing about our house, and the one that produced the biggest wave ~ the one we’re still riding is pure and utter l-o-v-e.

Sure, we’re a bit sleep-deprived.  Yes the toys are left littered on the floor a bit longer.  It’s a given that Calder is testing a tad more too.  Yet the little moments – tender kisses for little sister, the sweet roses that our boys brought home for us, catching kisses at the breakfast table…these make all the other nuisances disappear.

Here are a few shots from yesterday ~ I’ll try to get full body pics of this outfit (yes there has been lots of “this-is-too-cute” squealing on my part).  So far, Seneca seems pretty thoughtful and laid back…until she’s hungry that is!  Then, it’s no holding back!

Waving hello

Thoughtful

Pretty Girl

We’ve been blessed by some wonderful meals from our church family.  Calder especially enjoyed the stuffed shells Miss Emily brought by on Saturday!  I love his “I didn’t do it” expression here…

Innocence

And his mischevious little smirk here…

Loving Pasta

I really don’t know if I can choose a best shot this week, but wander over to Tracey’s to see what others are cooking up this week.

BSM ~ Baby Time!!!

Water broke.  Bags packed.  Parents called.  Friend en route.  Baby on his/her way.

I’m beyond thrilled to report that we’ll be headed to the hospital in just a few minutes and that later today we’ll be welcoming the newest addition to our family!!

This is the shot I’ve been waiting to take!!
