First Goal + 21

OK, so I signed up for Weight Watchers tonight and I’m already feeling better.  I already knew what the number was I would see, so it wasn’t as traumatic as it could have been.  It’s a little scary thinking about how far I have to go, so I’m just going to take it one day at a time.  It felt good to get focused on it though, and I hope that it goes well.

As for my other appointments, my ortho consult went well, but the cost is a bit prohibitive at this point.  I think we’re going to wait through the fall to see how we feel with daycare expenses, starting Calder’s college fund, etc.  I really hope to get started on it in January though!  And my massage…well, it was great up until I started feeling that tingling in my face again and ended up with a swollen lip!  It happened for the first time just after I was pregnant last summer and this is probably the fourth or fifth time it’s occurred.  I don’t know what causes it or why, but it usually goes down after a couple of hours.

Anyway, I’m off to bed!  Check in with you tomorrow!

Word of the day – Appointments

Garth and I loaded up Calder this morning and set off for the middle school to engage in a lively discussion about the student handbook.  It was actually a very productive meeting, so I don’t mean for my previous statement to drip with any sarcasm….ok, maybe just a little.

Post meeting found us chatting with some friends and colleagues over lunch, now my boys are about to crash for an afternoon nap, while I head to town for an ortho consult (I might be getting Invisalign), then a stop at the store (diapers – again!) and finally back to Portland for a adjustment and massage and the start to my new commitment to Weight Watchers.  I’m sure I’ll post again later to let you know that I’m at goal + ???  It’s only been a few years since I stopped the program, but I’m sure lots has changed.  Hopefully they still have the Core program in addition to the points, because I like not having to keep track as much!

Oh, and I forgot to give a big thanks go Dad C. for cutting down our lilac trees outback.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love lilacs…however these gnarled things were so dead and icky that they were not bringing us much joy.  We’ve got such a nice back corner that I can’t wait to finish cleaning it up now!  Thanks again!

Wine and Cheese

As I sit sweating on my lovely microfiber couch, I’m thankful that I’m finally at the writing stage of my blog creation.  I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I’m surprised by how long it took me to settle on a name that I liked, created the design I enjoyed and drafted the pages I was going to use.  Granted, I’m bound to change the look a few times and I’m sure that’s normal.

Yet now that I’m ready to tell my story, I find myself succumbing to the lull of wine I drained from the glass still sweating on my coffee table.  Garth opted for the cheese and crackers and Calder has been asleep since 8:30 (with one final pre-wine feeding around 9).  Perhaps tomorrow I’ll feel more ready to share a few of the recent happenings in our lives.
